ART ACADEMY INFORMATION
Redbrick Mill 218 Bradford Road Batley West Yorkshire WF17 6JF
'Coming to the Art Academy at Redbrick Mill has literally changed my life'. Jane
The workshop space is a large flexible studio on the top floor of a former woollen mill. The majority of the mill is now fully developed as high quality retail space specializing in furnishings but the Art Academy retains many of the features of the original mill including large windows and exposed beams. It is a popular and creative space in which many art activities take place.
'Think of a robust, rugged, industrial loft space, yet a space softened by warmth, colour, light and creative activity........that's what the Art Academy means to me. People are serious about their art here, but the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming, probably fostered by Tom's own relaxed air. I have never found it competitive but there is a serious commitment to the group's activities'.
Teaching - Tom has two teaching sessions each week on Wednesday and Thursday. Each session costs £20 and booking is required. PLEASE BOOK HERE Many of the people who attend regularly use the space as their studio away from home, work and painting equipment is often stored from one week to the next. It has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and many of those attending find it both supportive and friendly, Tom is always around to offer advice and encouragment.
Friday is a day reserved for online tutorials, each one hour session costs £15, PLEASE BOOK HERE
The Art Academy has all the facilities you would expect of a well equipped studio, kitchen with fridges, microwave and toaster, toilet and washing up area. There are many tables and chairs and a useful small library well stocked with art books available to loan.
