Composition is one of the key skills for an artist, without it even the most skillfully made work will struggle to be successful. These skills are relevant to artists across all genres from abstract to figurative, they involve the sensitive and considered use of colour, an ability to design boldly and with intelligence and also an awareness of what structure is and how it can support all the elements within your work.

This two day workshop will enable you to explore and understand these basic building blocks of making art.

 

Please bring the following materials;

brushes

acrylic paint

black ink

sketchbook (for notes and mark making)

sponge

rag

palette knives

thick graphite pencil

pva

one portrait format canvas or board approx 60 x 80cm

large palette (offcut of conte board works well)

 

You will also need;

packed lunch

old clothes or apron
