Absent Head, before and after
Absent Head is a recent painting, it involves the use of a lot of oil, wax and glazes. The starting point below is a painting from life, I then spend quite a while painting on top of it trying to find some kind of metaphoric image suggestive of the absence of the model, ideally I want the head to be in flux, both there and not there, hence the title 'Absent Head'.
Paradoxically I want to use the very real stuff of paint to describe the fragility of absence.
